ÜBW - A WAY TO SUCCESS AT COMMERCIAL SCHOOLS
The Bavarian network of practice firms (UEBW) - a nonprofit organisation - started its business in the early 1980s. At the
beginning just a couple of practical firms joined the Bavarian network of practical firms. Due to new developments - political and educational - the number of practical firms
participating has increased to a current number of some 220.

The project “Practice Firm” is a compulsory part of the Bavarian educational system
today. In a two year course the students work three hours per week in their virtual businesses.
The Bavarian network of practical firms has its origin in Memmingen. The headquarter of UEBW remained at its birthplace.
UEBW provides a simulated business environment used for training purposes. This includes a central post office, a credit-card company, virtual banks, and several authorities.
The introduction of the UEBW internet portal being available for all registered practical
firms has rung in a new era. Students are now able, e.g., to place orders or to do the banking on-line. Furthermore, UEBW is proud of its guided texts, a progressive teaching
method for practical firms.
As we expect a high standard of working and reliability of our partners, we work at
ourselves to provide the same standard. Since the school term 2005/2006, ÜBW has offered a third party certification to our practice firms. 25 % of our practice firms have been certified so far.
